19-Year-Old LAUTECH Student Wins Miss Oyo 2024, Receives SUV Car

In a dazzling display of beauty and talent, Oladimeji Mercy Esther, a 19-year-old 300-level Science Laboratory Technology student from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), has been crowned Miss Oyo State 2024. The prestigious event took place on Sunday night, drawing the attendance of several dignitaries, including the First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, and other notable figures such as Hon. Adedeji Dhikirulah Olajide, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and Dr. Yinka Ayefele.

The highlight of the evening was the grand prize—a luxurious Hummer H3 SUV Jeep—donated by billionaire businessman Engr. Dotun Sanusi. In addition to the grand prize, lucky raffle ticket winners received bags of rice and chickens, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The panel of judges, which included the State Commissioner for Energy, Barrister Seun Ashamu, Director General of FRIN, Ibrahim Lawal, Actress Toyin Adegbola, and Princess Abeo Folashade Nurudeen, had the challenging task of selecting the winner from a pool of talented contestants. The event was organized by Mayor Isaac Brown, CEO of Silverstone Communications Event, in collaboration with Fresh FM Ibadan and several other media partners.

In her remarks, the First Lady encouraged the organizers to introduce a mentorship program for the contestants, emphasizing the importance of acquiring necessary skills and education alongside their beauty. The sponsors of the 21st edition of Miss Oyo 2024 included Oyo State ALGON, Coca-Cola, Signal 7000, UI Hotels, Dupsy Stores, Naira Bet, Zartech, 7up Plc, Pacesetter Transport Service, Foodco, and Ultima Foods.
