OPay Extends N1.2bn 10-Year Scholarship Scheme to Kwara State Polytechnic.

OPay, a leading Nigerian financial services company, has extended its ₦1.2 billion scholarship initiative to Kwara State Polytechnic. The 10-year program, which was initially designed to support students in select universities, now includes the polytechnic—making it the first of its kind to benefit from the long-term educational support scheme.

Under the partnership, 20 deserving students of Kwara State Polytechnic will each receive a scholarship worth ₦300,000 annually. The fund is aimed at reducing financial pressure on students while encouraging academic excellence. The initiative is part of OPay’s broader plan to sponsor 400 students annually across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

At the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Ilorin, OPay’s Chief Public Affairs Officer, Justin Zhang, described the initiative as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future. He emphasized that the scholarship aligns with the company’s vision of empowering young Nigerians through inclusive education and technology-driven solutions.

Kwara State Polytechnic Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, commended OPay for its commitment to youth development and educational advancement. He noted that the partnership would not only provide financial relief to students but also inspire others to strive for academic distinction.
