‘I Take Full Responsibility,’ KWAM 1 Apologises Over Abuja Airport Incident.

Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has tendered a public apology over the altercation that occurred at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025. In a statement issued on August 8, the veteran musician accepted full responsibility for the incident involving ValueJet Airlines staff, describing it as “highly regrettable.” He appealed for forgiveness from President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, affected passengers, and his fans worldwide.

Addressing reports that he attempted to board the aircraft with alcohol, KWAM 1 clarified that the flask in question contained only water, explaining that he suffers from chronic dehydration and had been advised by his doctor to remain constantly hydrated. He stated that the flask was empty during two separate security screenings and was only filled at the airport lounge before boarding.

Expressing deep regret, the Fuji legend emphasised that he had no intention of breaching aviation protocols or causing disruption. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the country and his role as an ambassador of Nigerian culture, pledging to continue upholding the values of discipline and respect.
