The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 9,324,349 young Nigerians were newly registered during the 2026 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The figure reflects a surge in youth participation ahead of upcoming elections, signaling growing political engagement among Nigeria’s younger generation.
According to INEC, the registration drive targeted first-time voters and those updating their details, with youth turnout surpassing expectations across the country. The commission described the development as a positive sign for democratic participation and inclusivity.
This milestone underscores the increasing influence of young Nigerians in shaping the nation’s political future, as they continue to demand accountability and reform through active civic involvement.
