Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that his upcoming fifth studio album will have a life-changing impact. In a recent video shared while relaxing in his private jet with his wife, Chioma, Davido expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “In 2025, my fifth album is going to be amazing. It’s gonna change everybody’s lives.”
On December 5, 2024, Davido confirmed that the highly-anticipated project, aptly titled “5ive,” will drop this year. He described the album as a heartfelt reflection of his journey, growth, and truth. “This one is straight from the heart – my story, my truth, my growth,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
The rollout for “5ive” has already begun, with the release of the single “Funds,” featuring Odumodublvck and Chike. The track samples Brenda Fassie’s iconic 1997 hit “Vuli Ndlela” and has been well-received by fans. Davido performed the song with Odumodublvck during his birthday concert at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, further building anticipation for the album.
“5ive” follows two years after his chart-topping album “Timeless,” which was released on March 31, 2023, via Davido Music Worldwide, Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment. “Timeless” peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s World Albums chart and No. 37 on the Billboard 200. It also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album in 2024. The album’s standout track, “Unavailable,” featuring Musa Keys, climbed to No. 3 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and was nominated for Best African Music Performance.
