Armed personnel from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reportedly invaded the headquarters of Ikeja Electric (IE) in Lagos, assaulting staff and disrupting operations. The incident occurred at IE’s office opposite MITV in Ikeja, following the disconnection of power supply to the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base due to unpaid bills.
Reports indicate that the base had been without electricity for two weeks, with debts amounting to millions of naira. In retaliation, soldiers stormed the IE office, attacking workers, forcing some to kneel, and halting operations. Videos from the scene show uniformed officers wielding arms and intimidating employees.
The invasion has left IE employees in fear, with many reportedly in hiding or refusing to resume work due to concerns about further aggression. The company has shut down its offices, and normal operations remain disrupted.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Nigerian Air Force regarding the allegations. The situation has raised concerns about the safety of utility workers and the implications of military interference in civil matters.
