The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has vowed to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing what it described as “anti-masses policies” implemented by his administration. According to the party, the removal of fuel subsidies, rising inflation, and other economic measures have inflicted severe hardship on Nigerians, particularly those in lower-income brackets. The NNPP leadership claims it is committed to providing a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at a recent party event in Abuja, NNPP National Chairman, Kawu Abdullahi, emphasized that the party is already working on a strategy to mobilize grassroots support ahead of the 2027 polls. He stated that the NNPP remains the voice of the masses and is focused on reversing policies that have led to job losses, economic instability, and a higher cost of living. Abdullahi also accused the Tinubu administration of prioritizing the elite over ordinary citizens.
The party pointed out that the removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent rise in fuel prices have exacerbated poverty levels across the country. NNPP leaders argued that the government’s efforts to introduce palliatives have been insufficient and poorly managed, leaving millions of Nigerians worse off than before. The party insists that a people-focused government would prioritize policies that alleviate hardship rather than deepen it.
The NNPP also criticized the government’s handling of insecurity and education, stating that these sectors have worsened under the current administration. Party officials believe that the disillusionment among citizens presents an opportunity to galvanize support for the NNPP as a viable alternative. They urged Nigerians to stay resilient and consider the party’s vision for a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
As preparations for the 2027 elections begin, the NNPP is calling on Nigerians to reject what it describes as the “anti-people policies” of the APC-led government. The party is optimistic that it can secure victory by presenting clear, practical solutions to the challenges faced by Nigerians and fostering hope for a better future.
