JUST IN: Israel Adesanya Enters UFC Hall of Fame for Iconic 2019 Battle

History is being made today as Nigerian-born UFC superstar Israel Adesanya is officially inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, honoring his unforgettable 2019 clash with Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236.

The induction, taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, celebrates Adesanya’s five-round war for the interim middleweight title—a bout widely regarded as one of the greatest in UFC history. The fight, which earned him a unanimous decision victory, now joins the Hall’s prestigious Fight Wing, alongside legendary matchups like Griffin vs. Bonnar and Silva vs. Sonnen.

Adesanya, known for his striking brilliance and charismatic presence, reflected on the moment: “That was the realest moment I think I’ve ever had in the cage… I wasn’t scared of death. I just thought, if this is how I go out, this is how I go out — but I’m going to die trying”.

The ceremony also serves a greater cause, with all proceeds going to the UFC Foundation, supporting community initiatives and combat sports development.

From Lagos to Las Vegas, Adesanya’s journey is a testament to grit, artistry, and the global rise of African fighters in mixed martial arts. His induction cements his legacy—not just as a champion, but as a warrior who gave fans one of the most electrifying nights in UFC history.
