The Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area in Lagos State is set to rename Liverpool Road after Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu. This decision, announced by the council chairman, Kehinde Oloyede, recognizes Seyi Tinubu’s significant contributions to youth and community development.
Liverpool Road, a strategic thoroughfare linking the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway to the international airport, was previously notorious for criminal activities. Described as a “lion’s den,” it was a hideout for touts and criminals, making passage unsafe at all hours.
Upon assuming office, Chairman Oloyede prioritized the road’s reconstruction, leading to the displacement of the criminal elements. The rehabilitation included beautification efforts and the installation of solar-powered streetlights, enhancing safety and aesthetics.
The council’s media office highlighted that the road’s transformation has facilitated smoother movement for motorists and pedestrians, boosting local commerce and connectivity. The renaming ceremony is scheduled for a future date, yet to be announced.
This initiative underscores the local government’s commitment to recognizing individuals contributing positively to the community, while also enhancing infrastructure to improve residents’ quality of life.
