Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has embarked on another bold Guinness World Record attempt, this time to cook the largest pot of jollof rice in history. The culinary event, tagged the Gino World Jollof Fest with Hilda Baci, officially kicked off today, September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotel Car Park B in Lagos.
The feat involves a specially designed mega-pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres, standing six meters wide and six meters tall. To bring the record to life, Hilda will be cooking with 250 bags of rice, alongside over 1,500 kilograms of tomato paste and other spices, creating what promises to be the biggest celebration of the iconic West African dish.
Beyond the record, the festival is a showcase of Nigerian culture and unity, drawing tens of thousands of participants to witness history in the making. With music, food, and community spirit, the event highlights jollof rice as more than just a meal but a powerful cultural symbol.
