Enugu Woman Arraigned for Fake Testimony on ₦300 Million Duplex at Zion Ministry.

A 32-year-old woman, Loveth Helen Alo, has been arrested and arraigned by the Enugu State Police Command for allegedly giving a false testimony regarding the purchase of a five-bedroom duplex valued at ₦300 million. The incident occurred during a service at Prophet Ebuka Obi’s Zion Prayer Movement Outreach in Lagos, where Alo claimed that God had blessed her with the acquisition of the property.

In a viral video, Alo testified that she had paid ₦200 million for the duplex and would complete the remaining payment in installments. However, investigations revealed that the property, located at Plot 16, WTC Estate, Enugu, actually belongs to Architect Emmanuel Asogwa. Following a petition from the property’s rightful owner, Alo was arrested on February 1, 2025.

During police interrogation, Alo confessed to making the false claims independently, without any external influence or arrangement. She was subsequently arraigned before the Enugu North Magisterial District Court on charges including obtaining by false pretense with intent to defraud, defamation of character, and attempting to commit a felony by trying to sell the property. Alo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate granted her bail set at ₦1 million, with the condition of providing a surety who must present three years of tax clearance. The case has been adjourned to April 9, 2025, for further hearing.

Speaking to journalists after her arraignment, Alo maintained that her testimony was an act of faith, expressing her belief that she would eventually acquire a similar property. She emphasized that she did not collaborate with anyone nor receive any inducement for her claims.

The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, led by Evangelist Ebuka Obi, has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The ministry continues its regular activities amidst the ongoing legal proceedings.
