In a dramatic turn of events, renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has taken her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, to court over allegations of stealing $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and events. The singer claims that Onyedikachukwu received the funds without proper disclosure and failed to remit her rightful share.
The case, which has garnered significant attention, saw Justice Alexander Owoeye approve an order following a motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The EFCC sought the manager’s arrest to compel his appearance in court to answer charges related to criminal offenses.
During the court proceedings, EFCC investigator Michael Idoko revealed that the commission received a petition from Mercy Chinwo, accusing her manager of diverting the substantial sum. Despite efforts to arrest Onyedikachukwu, the EFCC’s attempts had been unsuccessful, prompting the request for an arrest warrant.
The court has adjourned the case until January 24 for the manager’s arraignment, where more details are expected to emerge. This case highlights the importance of transparency and trust in professional relationships, especially in the entertainment industry.
