The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has urged for dialogue and reconciliation following the sentencing of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Kanu was convicted on charges of terrorism, a ruling that has already sparked widespread reactions across Nigeria and among the diaspora. Odumegwu-Ojukwu emphasized that while the judiciary has delivered its verdict, the government must prioritize peaceful engagement to prevent further unrest and ensure national stability.
She noted that dialogue remains the most effective tool for addressing grievances and fostering unity, especially in sensitive cases that carry significant political and ethnic implications.
The sentencing of Kanu is expected to intensify debates on Nigeria’s approach to separatist movements, human rights, and national security.
