The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has commenced its recruitment aptitude test, with a staggering 45,689 candidates vying for a limited number of positions. The recruitment drive, which began earlier this year, has attracted applications from across the country, reflecting the high demand for jobs at the state-owned oil corporation.
The online aptitude test, which started on Monday, is being conducted in batches to accommodate the large number of applicants. Candidates are being tested on various skills, including logical reasoning, quantitative analysis, and industry-specific knowledge. According to NNPCL, the process is designed to be transparent, fair, and merit-based to ensure only the most qualified candidates advance to the next stage.
Many candidates expressed optimism about the process, citing the corporation’s reputation for professionalism. Miss Deborah Akinola, one of the test-takers, said, “I’ve prepared for weeks and hope to do my best. Getting a job at NNPCL would be a dream come true.” However, some candidates raised concerns about technical glitches during the online test, urging the organizers to address these issues promptly.
NNPCL’s spokesperson, Dr. Garba Mohammed, assured the public that the recruitment process would adhere to the highest standards. “We are committed to selecting the best talents to join our workforce. This exercise is part of our ongoing effort to reposition NNPCL as a global energy company,” he said. He also emphasized that all candidates would be given equal opportunities to showcase their abilities.
This recruitment drive comes at a time of rising unemployment in Nigeria, making the competition particularly fierce. Experts have lauded NNPCL’s initiative, urging other organizations to follow suit by creating job opportunities for the country’s teeming youth population. Successful candidates will proceed to the next phase, which includes interviews and background checks, before final selections are made.
