Wike Accuses Odili of Tarnishing His Legacy After Praising Him as Rivers’ Best Governor.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has expressed displeasure over recent criticisms from his predecessor, Peter Odili. Wike revealed that Odili once described him as the best governor Rivers State has ever had but is now portraying him in a negative light. The fallout between the two political figures has sparked public interest in Rivers State’s political circles.

Wike alleged that Odili is meddling in the state’s affairs by influencing the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration. According to Wike, Odili’s actions are aimed at discrediting his tenure as governor, despite the significant projects and reforms he implemented during his time in office. Wike warned that Rivers State should not be turned into a political battleground for personal interests.

In response to calls from a group known as the Concerned Elders of Rivers State urging Wike to apologize to Odili, he firmly rejected the request. He stated that he stands by his statements and sees no reason to apologize. Wike also criticized the elders for remaining silent during alleged misconduct by Odili, accusing them of bias.

The political rift between Wike and Odili marks a significant shift from their once-friendly relationship. Odili had played a key role in Wike’s rise in politics, and the two leaders were once seen as allies. However, Wike’s recent comments suggest that their relationship has deteriorated, with Wike accusing Odili of trying to control the state’s leadership from behind the scenes.

Political observers have expressed concern that the ongoing feud could destabilize Rivers State’s political structure. As the state gears up for more political activities in the coming months, the fallout between two of its most influential leaders could shape the political landscape, especially within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
