President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Prince Doyin Okupe, a distinguished medical doctor, politician, and strategist, who died at the age of 72. Okupe’s political career spanned over three decades, during which he held several notable positions:
• National Publicity Secretary of the National Republican Convention (NRC).
• Special Assistant on Media to President Olusegun Obasanjo.
• Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan.
He was also actively involved in various political parties, including the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and served as the national leader of the Accord Party. In the medical field, Okupe co-founded the Royal Cross Medical Centre in Lagos and published “Life Mirror,” a health-focused newspaper.
President Tinubu described Okupe as a bold and articulate advocate for national development, noting that his wealth of experience and insight were invaluable to the nation. He praised Okupe’s contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly his role in shaping public discourse and governance.
