Nwoko Dismisses Regina Daniels’ Negative Drug Test as ‘Temporary Abstinence’

Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly rejected a recent negative drug test result shared by his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, describing it as little more than “temporary abstinence” rather than proof of sustained sobriety. In a statement on his official X account, the Delta North lawmaker argued that recovery and accountability cannot be established through a single test or social media post.

Daniels had posted on her social media platforms that she voluntarily underwent a comprehensive drug screening abroad, with the results indicating no presence of illegal substances. She denied being a drug addict and said the test was meant to protect her reputation and reassure her children amid ongoing public scrutiny.

However, Nwoko questioned the credibility and timing of the recent negative test, saying earlier assessments—conducted by independent and reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa—were professionally documented and would be presented and defended in court. He insisted that a negative result at one point in time does not invalidate earlier findings of substance use.

The senator further stressed that issues like addiction and recovery require long-term professional support, consistency and honesty, not isolated medical snapshots or public relations efforts. He also reiterated that the court has previously mandated supervised therapy as part of a child custody judgment, highlighting the legal complexities surrounding the couple’s ongoing dispute.

The disagreement over the drug test result unfolds against the backdrop of a broader marital conflict between Nwoko and Daniels that has played out publicly since late 2025, including allegations of domestic violence, custody battles, and intense media attention. Both parties have used legal and public channels to assert their positions as the saga continues to captivate national audiences.
