Nigeria stole the spotlight at the 2024 African Media and Games Awards (AMGA), securing the title of overall winner in a dazzling display of talent and innovation. Team Nigeria Armed Forces topped the medals table at the 2nd Africa Military Games (AMGA) 2024, clinching a total of 234 medals as the competition ended on Saturday night. Team Nigeria secured 114 gold, 65 silver, and 45 bronze across 21 sports, according to the medal table. Algeria, the next host nation, finished second with 96 medals, comprising 53 gold, 22 silver, and 31 bronze. Kenya secured third place with a total of 59 medals.
Ghana, Ethiopia, and Tunisia rounded out the top six, finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. South Africa, Libya, and Uganda followed in seventh, eighth, and ninth positions, with Tanzania completing the top ten.
Key victories included awards for Best Digital Campaign, Most Influential Gaming Content, and Excellence in Media Reporting. Nigerian startups also excelled, with several companies being recognized for groundbreaking work in gaming technology and digital storytelling.
