Lagos Fashion Week 2024, which concluded recently, celebrated African creativity and fashion with a powerful emphasis on community and sustainable practices. Held from October 23-27, this year’s theme, “COMMUNE,” underscored the importance of collaboration across the African fashion industry to address environmental and social issues.
The event, held at the iconic John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, brought together designers, buyers, and enthusiasts, showcasing the continent’s talent through runway shows, presentations, and thought-provoking panels.
One of the highlights of the week was the Green Access initiative, spotlighting emerging designers focused on sustainable practices. Finalists Dimeji Ilori, Garbe, Malité, Oya Abeó, and Revival debuted collections that integrated ethical sourcing and production, reflecting the commitment to responsible fashion. Major African and international designers also presented their latest collections, celebrating African artistry and cultural heritage through unique textiles, vibrant colors, and innovative designs
