The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a fresh reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lowering it from ₦850 to ₦820 per litre. The adjustment took effect on August 12, 2025, and marks the third price slash in recent months.
According to the refinery, the move is part of its commitment to easing fuel costs for Nigerians and supporting economic stability. Industry experts predict the change could push retail pump prices below ₦885 in major cities as marketers adjust to the new supply rates.
In addition to the price cut, Dangote Refinery confirmed plans to deploy 4,000 CNG-powered trucks from August 15, 2025, to improve distribution efficiency and reduce dependence on diesel-powered logistics.
This development is expected to intensify competition in the downstream sector, potentially leading to further reductions from other marketers and importers.
