In a candid interview on the Today show, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates opened up about a new chapter in his life post-divorce. The tech mogul, now 69, revealed his relationship with Paula Hurd, describing himself as “lucky” to have found love again.
Bill Gates shared his happiness, saying, “I’m lucky to have a serious girlfriend named Paula. We’re having fun, going to the Olympics, and enjoying many great experiences together.” Paula Hurd, a philanthropist and developer, was previously married to former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd until his passing in 2019. Gates and Hurd were first spotted together in 2022 and made their relationship official in early 2023. Since then, they have been seen together at various high-profile events, including the Paris Olympics, the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, and Anant Ambani’s wedding.
Reflecting on his past, Bill Gates acknowledged that his divorce from Melinda French Gates after 27 years of marriage remains the biggest regret of his life. He admitted that the separation was an incredibly difficult period for both him and Melinda, spanning at least two years. Gates took responsibility for the pain caused during their marriage, including an incident involving an affair with a Microsoft employee. “I certainly made mistakes, and I take responsibility,” he stated.
Another significant factor contributing to their separation was Bill’s past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. While he expressed greater happiness in his current life, he candidly admitted that delving into specifics of these incidents was not constructive but acknowledged the harm caused.
With a new relationship and a fresh outlook on life, Bill Gates continues to focus on his philanthropic efforts and global initiatives. Paula Hurd, known for her own philanthropic work, seems to be a supportive and positive presence in Gates’ life as they embark on this new journey together.
