Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has formally submitted a petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ahmed Farouk.
The petition reportedly raises concerns over regulatory practices and alleged misconduct within the petroleum sector. Dangote, whose conglomerate operates one of the world’s largest oil refineries, is said to be seeking intervention from the ICPC to ensure transparency and accountability in the industry.
This development comes amid ongoing tensions between the Dangote Group and regulatory authorities over fuel pricing, licensing, and market operations. Analysts suggest the petition could intensify scrutiny of Nigeria’s downstream sector and potentially reshape the dynamics between private operators and government regulators.
