Lamine Yamal’s 18th Birthday Party Sparks Outrage Over Use of People With Dwarfism as Entertainment.

Barcelona and Spain football prodigy Lamine Yamal is facing mounting criticism after his 18th birthday celebration reportedly featured individuals with dwarfism hired as entertainers. The lavish party, held near Sitges, Spain, on July 13, drew attention not only for its opulence and celebrity guest list but also for what disability rights advocates have called a deeply offensive act.

The Association for People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias (ADEE) strongly condemned the inclusion of people with dwarfism as part of the party’s entertainment, describing it as “unacceptable in the 21st century.” The organization emphasized that such practices violate the dignity of individuals with disabilities and reinforce harmful stereotypes. ADEE has vowed to pursue both legal and social action in response.

Spanish law prohibits the use of individuals with disabilities for amusement or ridicule, with potential fines reaching up to €600,000. ADEE’s president, Carolina Puente, stated that when public figures like Yamal engage in such behavior, the impact is amplified and normalizes disrespect.

The incident has also sparked widespread backlash online. Social media users and advocacy groups expressed deep disappointment, especially given Yamal’s image as a rising star and role model in international football. Additional criticisms emerged over the event’s alleged use of “image girls” and a restrictive dress code, which some viewed as sexist and objectifying.

As of now, Lamine Yamal has not issued any public comment or apology regarding the controversy. The situation continues to draw attention, and the response from Yamal and his team could have significant implications for his public reputation and endorsement deals moving forward.
