US Expels South African Ambassador Following Trump Criticism.

The United States has declared South African Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool “persona non grata,” effectively expelling him from the country. Secretary of State Marco Rubio cited Rasool’s “race-baiting” comments and his negative stance toward President Donald Trump as the primary reasons for this unprecedented move.

Relations between the two nations have been strained since President Trump’s return to office, with several contentious issues exacerbating tensions. These include disputes over a South African land law, U.S. aid cuts affecting vital HIV/AIDS programs, and differing stances on international matters such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The South African government expressed regret over the expulsion but reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with the United States. Despite this setback, South Africa remains dedicated to building constructive ties with Washington.

This development marks a significant downturn in U.S.-South Africa relations, with potential implications for diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian collaborations between the two countries.
