TETFund Denies Allegations of ₦325 Million Funding to Adamawa APC.

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has strongly denied allegations of disbursing ₦325 million to the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The claims originated from Mrs. Patricia Yakubu, the APC Women Leader in Adamawa State, who accused the party’s leadership in the state of mismanaging funds allegedly provided by TETFund. The allegations have sparked significant public and political interest, prompting TETFund to release an official statement.

In its response, TETFund, through its Director of Public Affairs, Abdulmumin Oniyangi, categorically refuted the accusations. Oniyangi clarified that General Murtala Mohammed College (GMMC) in Yola, one of the institutions mentioned in the allegations, is not a beneficiary of TETFund. He further explained that while the Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola is a TETFund beneficiary, the institution independently manages its contractor engagements in compliance with TETFund’s policies and guidelines.

TETFund labeled the claims as “preposterous and totally false,” expressing disappointment over their circulation by individuals in influential political positions. The organization emphasized that it operates transparently and remains focused on its mandate of rehabilitating and enhancing Nigeria’s tertiary education system. Oniyangi assured the public that TETFund’s operations are above board and not influenced by political considerations.

The controversy stems from Yakubu’s petition, which alleged that funds from TETFund were diverted for party activities in Adamawa State. This has led to calls for accountability within the APC’s state chapter. However, the party’s national leadership has yet to officially address the allegations, leaving questions unanswered about the origin and veracity of the claims.

As the situation unfolds, TETFund has reiterated its commitment to its educational mission and called for an end to the dissemination of unfounded allegations. The organization stated that it will not be deterred by baseless claims, reaffirming its dedication to supporting Nigeria’s educational institutions through fair and transparent processes.
