Team Delta Dominates 22nd National Sports Festival with 122 Gold Medals

Team Delta has once again proven its dominance in Nigerian sports by emerging as the overall winner of the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF). The competition, which concluded at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Thursday, saw Delta clinch an impressive 122 gold, 95 silver, and 105 bronze medals, securing the top spot on the medal table.

Trailing behind Delta, Team Bayelsa finished second with 90 gold, 61 silver, and 70 bronze medals, while Team Ogun secured third place with 89 gold, 44 silver, and 77 bronze medals. Team Rivers and Team Edo rounded out the top five with 74 gold and 63 gold medals, respectively.

This victory marks Team Delta’s ninth overall win and fifth consecutive NSF triumph, further cementing its legacy in Nigerian sports. The festival, held over 11 days in Abeokuta, saw over 10,000 athletes competing across 30 sports categories.

The event was not without its drama—athletes protested unpaid allowances, while controversies surrounding doping disqualifications also surfaced. However, spectators were treated to a thrilling spectacle, including a memorable opening performance by Nigerian superstar Davido.

With another victory in the books, Team Delta continues to set the standard in Nigerian sporting excellence.
