Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has implemented a ban on loud preaching in public areas, particularly within markets, to address concerns over noise pollution. Individuals found violating this directive will face a fine of ₦500,000.
In a widely circulated video, Governor Soludo confronted a preacher using loudspeakers in a market, instructing him to cease his activities. He emphasized that such practices contribute to noise pollution and disturb residents, stating, “We have banned loudspeakers in markets due to noise pollution, which affects people’s eardrums.”

The governor underscored the importance of respecting everyone’s religion and maintaining public order, adding that individuals cannot force others to listen to their preaching. This move is part of a broader effort to crack down on activities that disrupt public peace and contribute to environmental noise pollution.
The new regulation aims to promote a more serene environment in public spaces across Anambra State, ensuring that commercial activities and daily life proceed without undue disturbances.
