Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was arrested on Saturday, April 13, 2025, by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation and threats against Fuji music icon Saheed Osupa.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest followed a formal petition filed by Osupa, accusing Portable of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The police obtained an arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin and apprehended Portable in Abeokuta, Ogun State, around 7:25 PM on April 13. He was subsequently transported to Ilorin for further investigation.
The allegations stem from a series of social media posts and videos in which Portable allegedly made defamatory and threatening remarks directed at Osupa. The police emphasized that the arrest was conducted in accordance with legal procedures and that Portable’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.
Portable remains in police custody, and authorities have indicated that he will be charged to court promptly. The incident has sparked discussions about the responsibilities of public figures in their use of social media platforms
