UK-based Nigerian pastor and founder of RIG Nation and Pioneers Church, Tomi Arayomi, has revealed details about his traumatic childhood experience. In an interview with Dr. Sharon Stone, posted on his YouTube channel on March 7, 2025, Arayomi disclosed that he was sexually abused at the age of five by a trusted family member.
He explained that the abuse deeply affected his life, leading to struggles with sexual identity and addiction, challenges he faced even while serving in ministry. According to him, the pressure of being a public figure in the faith community made it difficult to address these personal battles. He stated, “The pressure of ministry turned the crack into a crater… because the persona grew, the offline persona grew.”
Arayomi also shared how a school teacher introduced him to pornography, which further complicated his struggles. This exposure, coupled with the trauma from his childhood, led to an addiction that persisted into adulthood. He admitted that he kept his experience a secret for years and only disclosed the abuse to his parents and twin brother when he rededicated his life to Christ in his late teens.
Despite these challenges, Arayomi emphasized that healing and deliverance were possible through faith. He credited his spiritual journey for helping him overcome his past and encouraged others facing similar struggles to seek help. He stressed the importance of opening up and finding support.
His story highlights the lasting impact of childhood trauma and the need for greater awareness in faith communities. His openness has sparked discussions on the importance of mental health, emotional healing, and spiritual restoration among religious leaders and their followers.
Through his testimony, Arayomi hopes to inspire others who have suffered in silence. His message serves as a reminder that healing, transformation, and freedom from past trauma are possible through faith and perseverance.
