Ogun Govt to Begin Tolling on Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Highway March 24.

The Ogun State Government has announced the commencement of tolling operations on the Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway, effective Monday, March 24, 2025. This initiative aims to ensure sustainable road maintenance, efficient operations, and enhanced safety for commuters.

Historically, the 14.7 km expressway was in a state of disrepair, posing significant challenges to motorists. Recognizing its strategic importance as a corridor for economic activities between Lagos and Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun prioritized its reconstruction upon assuming office. The road was rebuilt into a modern expressway equipped with up-to-date facilities, including toll booths.

Despite the public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement for the road’s management, the government had postponed tolling since 2021 to alleviate the financial burden on residents and frequent users. However, to balance public interest with investor considerations, the decision to commence tolling has now been finalized.

Certain vehicles will be exempt from toll payments, including emergency response units such as ambulances, fire service trucks, patrol vehicles, government-owned security vehicles, and official Ogun State Government vehicles. The public is urged to comply with the tolling regulations, as enforcement measures will be strictly implemented.

The Ogun State Government remains committed to providing world-class infrastructure to boost economic growth and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
