The Nollywood community has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of beloved actress Patience Ugwu, popularly known as Pat Ugwu. At just 35, her untimely passing has left a void in the hearts of her colleagues, fans, and loved ones.
Her colleague Emeka Okoye broke the news on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt tribute along with details of her funeral arrangements. Okoye described her passing as an “unusual death” and expressed his sorrow and fear over the loss. “Rest in peace, sis. Pat Ugwu. @patpat_ugwu, so we no get to work again? Death whyooo? God please. Rest in peace, Pat. May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord,” he wrote.
He also prayed for divine protection over his colleagues, particularly those close to him. Other colleagues in the industry expressed their grief and shock, with heartfelt tributes pouring in from all directions. Kevin Mike, another Nollywood star, wrote on Instagram, “Chai, just woke up this morning to hear the death of one of our crew and casts @patpat_ugwu. Rest in peace, dear.”
Destiny Etiko mourned Ugwu saying, “Jesus noooooo,” while Nkechi Blessing expressed her shock, asking, “Which kind rough play be this?”
Despite the outpouring of grief and condolences, the cause of Pat Ugwu’s death remains unknown. Her funeral is set to commence with a wake ceremony on February 6, and further details are yet to be announced.
