Canada Declares Nigerian Man Wanted for $275,000 Social Media Fraud.

Canadian authorities have declared Chukwuka Emmanuel Williams, a 30-year-old Nigerian man, wanted for allegedly scamming multiple victims out of $275,000 through social media fraud. Williams reportedly posed as a military service member stationed overseas, deceiving individuals into sending him large sums of money.

According to police, the fraud took place between June 2020 and September 2021, targeting victims across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec. Williams allegedly built online relationships with his victims, convincing them that he needed financial help to return home from deployment.

Authorities charged him with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime, but he failed to appear in court on January 27, 2025. As a result, a warrant for his arrest has been issued, and investigators are urging the public to provide any information on his whereabouts.

Law enforcement officials warn that social media scams are becoming more sophisticated, with fraudsters preying on trust and emotions. They have advised people to be cautious when sending money to online acquaintances, especially those they have never met in person.

The case remains under investigation, and Canadian police are working to locate Williams. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities or Crime Stoppers.
