The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a new smuggling tactic involving drugs concealed inside flight boarding passes at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to NDLEA officials, the discovery was made during routine checks on passengers preparing to board international flights. The agency revealed that traffickers had ingeniously embedded narcotics within the laminated layers of boarding passes to evade detection.
The operation led to the seizure of the illicit substances and the arrest of suspects linked to the scheme. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd.), reiterated the agency’s commitment to intensifying surveillance at airports and borders, warning traffickers that Nigeria will continue to clamp down on drug smuggling networks.
The incident highlights the evolving methods of drug traffickers and the need for constant vigilance by security agencies.
