MultiChoice Increases DStv, GOtv Subscription Prices Again.

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a new increase in subscription prices for its DStv and GOtv packages, set to take effect from March 1, 2025. This marks another price adjustment following a previous hike last year. The company attributes the decision to rising operational costs, inflation, and currency fluctuations, which have significantly impacted its business.

Under the new pricing structure, DStv Premium will rise from ₦37,000 to ₦44,500, while Compact Plus will increase from ₦25,000 to ₦30,000. Other packages such as DStv Compact, Confam, Yanga, and Padi will also see price adjustments. Similarly, GOtv Supa Plus will increase from ₦15,700 to ₦16,800, while other GOtv packages, including Supa, Max, Jolli, Jinja, and Smallie, will experience price changes.

MultiChoice, in a statement, explained that the price adjustment was necessary to maintain the quality of its services despite the harsh economic climate. The company assured customers that it remains committed to providing high-quality entertainment and premium content, despite the financial challenges. It also emphasized that the new pricing aligns with current market conditions affecting the broadcasting industry.

However, the announcement has sparked mixed reactions among subscribers. Many customers have expressed frustration over the frequent price hikes, especially amid Nigeria’s ongoing economic difficulties. Social media platforms have been flooded with complaints, with some users calling for alternatives to DStv and GOtv, while others urge regulatory authorities to intervene.

Despite the backlash, MultiChoice remains firm on its decision, stating that the increase is essential to sustain its operations. The company encouraged subscribers to explore its various packages to find options that best suit their budgets. As the new pricing takes effect in March, many Nigerians will be forced to reconsider their entertainment expenses.
