Tragedy struck in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, as a resident identified as Endurance Udeke reportedly died after jumping from a four-storey building during a raid by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The incident occurred on November 4, 2025, at Periwinkle Estate, where EFCC agents were conducting a sting operation targeting suspected internet fraudsters. According to the agency, Udeke and another resident of apartment W6a attempted to escape arrest by leaping from the building. While the second individual survived after receiving medical attention, Udeke succumbed to his injuries despite rescue efforts.
The EFCC confirmed the operation and the fatality in an official statement, sparking public outrage and calls for accountability. Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore condemned the agency, accusing it of abandoning its core mandate and demanding justice for the deceased.
