Lagos State Unveils 2024/25 Youth Ambassadors: A Bold Step Towards Youth Empowerment

In a move that underscores his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the 2024/25 Youth Ambassadors. The ceremony, held at the State House in Alausa, saw the introduction of six dynamic young leaders who are set to champion youth-related policies and drive social change across various sectors.

The newly inaugurated Youth Ambassadors are:

  • Obadare Adenekan, State Youth Ambassador
  • Faizah Adediran, Ikeja Divisional Ambassador
  • Bukola Aladesulu, Badagry Divisional Ambassador
  • Dolapo Oshikoya, Ikorodu Divisional Ambassador
  • Mohammed Sheriff, Lagos Divisional Ambassador
  • Divine Favour Apata, Epe Divisional Ambassador

Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to creating opportunities for young people. He emphasized that the Youth Ambassadors are positioned to play a crucial role in advocating for youth-related policies, driving social change, and promoting inclusivity across all sectors. “Youth engagement in governance is significant,” Sanwo-Olu remarked, highlighting the importance of ensuring that young people are not just beneficiaries of policies but active contributors to the development of the State.

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, commended the new Ambassadors for their dedication to service. He urged them to uphold values of leadership, integrity, and excellence as they embarked on their roles. On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, remarked, “These young leaders have been entrusted with the responsibility of driving youth-led initiatives, fostering innovation, and ensuring that the voices of Lagos youths are heard in governance and community development.”

The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, members of the Lagos State Youth Parliament, members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, and the Lagos State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

The inauguration of the 2024/25 Youth Ambassadors is a significant step towards harnessing the potential of Lagos State’s youth, ensuring their active participation in governance, and fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity.
