Lagos State Rewards Young Chefs with ₦10 Million at Eko Flavours Food Competition

The Lagos State Government has awarded ₦10 million in cash prizes and other gifts to outstanding young culinary talents at the 2025 edition of the Eko Flavours Food Competition, themed “A Lagos Food Story.” The event, held at the Fresh Food Hub in Mushin, was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Culinara Group.

Ten finalists competed across four categories—sandwich-making, appetisers, main course, and dessert—showcasing creativity, innovation, and mastery of local and international cuisines. The competition aimed to promote youth empowerment, food innovation, and strengthen the state’s agricultural value chain.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, highlighted the initiative as part of Lagos State’s commitment to nurturing culinary talent and boosting the food economy. She emphasized the importance of connecting food production to consumption through research, entrepreneurship, and skill development.

The winners received mentorship opportunities, culinary toolkits, and access to further training programs to help scale their careers in the food industry.
