Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested Modupeola Bamisade, a 35-year-old woman, for allegedly defrauding more than 100 unsuspecting victims of over ₦500 million through an online gadget scam.
According to police reports, Bamisade lured victims with promises of discounted electronic devices, collecting payments without delivering the products. The elaborate scheme reportedly ran for months before her eventual arrest.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to recover stolen funds and identify possible accomplices. The Command has urged members of the public to remain vigilant against online fraud and to verify sellers before making transactions.
The arrest highlights the growing concern over cybercrime and online scams in Nigeria, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to protect citizens from financial exploitation.
