At least six people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a fatal road accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Saturday morning. The crash, which happened around 7 a.m., involved a yellow commercial bus, a Mack truck, and a gas tanker. Eyewitnesses reported a chaotic scene, with emergency responders working tirelessly to rescue victims and clear the wreckage, which caused significant traffic disruption.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident was caused by excessive speed and loss of control by the driver of the Mack truck (registration number SEY363YY). The truck collided with the other vehicles near the Ibafo axis of the expressway. FRSC spokesperson Florence Okpe confirmed the involvement of three vehicles: a Mack truck, a tanker (T2900LA), and a yellow bus (LSD180YA).

The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Divine Touch and Glory Center hospitals in Ibafo, for urgent medical attention. The remains of the deceased were transported to the Idera morgue in Sagamu. Authorities have since cleared the road, and normal traffic flow has resumed, but the tragic event has left many families grieving.

This incident adds to the growing concerns about safety on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a major transportation artery frequently plagued by accidents. The FRSC has once again urged drivers to respect speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy to help prevent further tragedies on Nigerian highways
