Having a Child Made Me Appreciate My Parents More – Johnny Drille.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Johnny Drille has shared how becoming a father has profoundly transformed his perspective on love, responsibility, and the sacrifices parents make. In a heartfelt interview with Dose of Society, the Mavin Records artist opened up about his evolving life philosophy, revealing that family now stands at the core of his priorities.

Drille, who welcomed his daughter, Amaris Esohe Ighodaro, with his wife Rima Tahini in November 2023, expressed that parenthood has deepened his appreciation for his own parents. He recalled times during his upbringing when his family faced hardships, yet his parents always found ways to provide and shield their children from difficulties. “My parents didn’t have much. There were times we had no food, but they always found a way. They made it work—and made it fun,” he reflected.

Now, as a father, Drille understands the challenges and joys of nurturing a child. “Having a child changes everything. It gives you a new lens to see the world—and your own childhood. Now that I’m a father, I realise what it truly means to nurture someone,” he shared. This newfound understanding has led him to appreciate his parents’ efforts even more.

Drille emphasized the importance of family in his life, stating, “The one rule I live by is family first. I would abandon anything I’m doing anywhere in the world if my family needs me.” He credits his parents for instilling in him the value of family and for their unwavering support throughout his life.

Through his experiences as a father, Johnny Drille has gained a deeper respect for the sacrifices parents make and the profound impact they have on their children’s lives. His reflections serve as a testament to the enduring influence of parental love and dedication.
