JAMB Delists Five CBT Centres, Arrests 27 Candidates for Impersonation.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted five Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres over their failure to meet the board’s operational standards during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This action is part of JAMB’s broader effort to ensure that the examination process remains credible and transparent across the country. The board also reiterated its commitment to sanctioning any centre that falls short of the required ethical and technical standards.

The affected centres include Adventure Associate and Saadatu Rimi College of Education, both located in Kano State. Others are Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd (with two centres) in Tambuwal, Sokoto State, and Soronara Ventured Nigeria Limited in Imo State. Candidates initially scheduled to sit for their examinations at these centres have been advised to reprint their examination slips to know their new venues and dates.

In addition to delisting the centres, JAMB announced the arrest of 27 individuals for impersonation. These suspects were caught attempting to sit for the examination on behalf of other candidates, a criminal act that undermines the integrity of the UTME. The arrested individuals have since been handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

JAMB also addressed a hijab-related incident at Caleb University’s CBT centre in Lagos, where some candidates wearing hijabs were reportedly denied entry. The board explained that the incident was due to an unauthorized action by a security official and that it was swiftly resolved after the university’s Vice-Chancellor intervened. JAMB emphasized that candidates are free to dress in accordance with their religious beliefs, provided their faces are visible for identification purposes.

As of April 25, over 900,000 candidates had successfully completed their UTME examinations out of the 2,083,600 registered. JAMB has assured the public that it will continue monitoring the process closely to uphold the credibility of the examination. It warned that centres engaging in malpractice, technical failures, or other forms of misconduct would be blacklisted and prosecuted where necessary.
