Falz Reveals Why He May Not Raise His Children in Nigeria.

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed uncertainty about raising his future children in Nigeria, citing concerns over security, economic instability, and threats related to his activism.

During a recent appearance on the Dear Ife Series podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Falz was asked whether he would consider raising his children in Nigeria. He responded candidly:

“Ah! That’s a deep question. I didn’t expect to hear this question. I haven’t really thought that far, let me not lie. But it’s something that I can’t actually say ‘yes’ to because of what we are talking about—the insecurity in the country, threats due to my activism, and Nigerians’ docility.”

Falz elaborated that while he is deeply pro-Nigerian and believes in the country’s potential for improvement, the current state of affairs makes it challenging to commit to raising a family there. He added:

“It’s something I cannot outrightly say ‘yes’ to. And it’s so sad. But I can’t also outrightly say ‘no’ because I’m pro-Nigerian and I really believe that we can actually get it right. But I don’t know… let’s see.”

Known for his socially conscious music and activism, Falz has been vocal about Nigeria’s socio-political issues. His 2019 album Moral Instruction and the 2018 single “This Is Nigeria” address topics such as corruption, police brutality, and social injustice.

As of now, Falz remains single and does not have children. His reflections highlight the complex considerations many Nigerians face regarding the future and well-being of their families.
