Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, Dies at 71 After a Prolonged Illness.

The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has passed away at the age of 71. After battling a prolonged illness, Dr. Bello died on July 25, 2025, in Abuja, according to multiple news sources  .

Dr. Ibrahim Bello ascended to the throne as the 16th Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015, succeeding his father. Over his ten-year reign, he was celebrated for his dedication, wisdom, and commitment to promoting peace, cultural values, and development within Zamfara State  .

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State expressed profound grief over the loss of the Emir, calling him a father figure and trusted adviser. In an official statement conveyed through his spokesperson Sulaiman Idris Bala, the governor described the Emir’s leadership as invaluable and prayed for Allah’s mercy on his soul and comfort for his family and the people of Gusau  .

A veteran civil servant before becoming Emir, Bello held significant administrative roles in both Sokoto and Zamfara States. His tenure on the throne spanned a decade marked by influential leadership, guided by faith and service ethos  .

Dr. Bello’s death has sparked mourning across the Emirate and beyond, with citizens paying tribute to a unifying traditional ruler whose legacy transcended local boundaries. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced soon by the Gusau Emirate Council  .
