Elon Musk’s new $35 million estate in Austin, Texas, is making waves as part of his broader plan to bring his complex family closer together.
The property, featuring a Tuscan-style mansion with 14,400 square feet of living space, is situated in a wealthy neighborhood and includes an adjacent six-bedroom home for added convenience. Musk envisions the compound as a space where his 11 children—shared with three different mothers—can interact regularly, fostering connections among his younger children.
Musk currently lives in another Austin property, just ten minutes from this new mansion, but he has designed the compound to encourage cohabitation among his children and their mothers. Shivon Zilis, a Neuralink executive and mother of Musk’s youngest twins, has already moved into one of the nearby homes.
The setup will allow her twins, along with her third child with Musk, to interact with his other children, in line with Musk’s hopes for a family-centered environment. Meanwhile, Claire Boucher (Grimes), the mother of three more of Musk’s children, has not yet joined the compound, due to a complex and ongoing legal custody dispute with Musk over their children
This development highlights Musk’s unique approach to family life, as he balances co-parenting with his highly demanding career.
Musk’s first wife, Justine Wilson, is the mother of his five older children, including twins Griffin and Vivian and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, all of whom are now teenagers or young adults. The compound arrangement reflects Musk’s commitment to an unorthodox family dynamic, which he sees as essential to creating bonds among his children and managing the logistics of his family
This Texas estate represents Musk’s efforts to maintain family unity despite the complexities of his relationships and the challenges of co-parenting across different households. He has publicly expressed a commitment to actively managing his family relationships, envisioning this property as a space that fosters connection and a cohesive family structure
