Popular Nigerian comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, widely known as Deeone, has announced plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy performance. The marathon, scheduled for October 2 to 4, 2025, will hold at Pallazo Lagos in Opebi, Ikeja.
Deeone revealed the news in his signature humorous style, sharing a poster designed like a funeral announcement. The revelation sparked excitement online, with celebrities including Josh2funny, Teddy A, and Tonto Dikeh pledging their support. Fans have also flooded his page with encouragement as anticipation builds for the event.
The current Guinness World Record stands at 40 hours and 8 minutes, set in April 2013 by American comedian David Scott. Earlier this year, Nigerian comedian Laff Ijuo Albert completed a 50-hour marathon, but his attempt is still pending Guinness verification. Deeone’s attempt, however, has already received official GWR approval, making it one of the most closely watched comedy events of the year.
