Afrobeats star Davido has withdrawn from a scheduled performance at 50 Cent’s concert in London, citing unresolved disagreements with the organisers. The event, set to take place on July 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was highly anticipated, with Davido listed as one of the featured acts. However, the Nigerian singer announced his withdrawal on Friday, stating that his decision was based on “principle and respect for my craft.”

In a statement posted on Instagram, Davido explained that there were “major misalignments” with the event’s execution, despite impressive ticket sales. He noted that the issues were not financial but rather about how the event was being handled and the perceived lack of professionalism. “It’s not about the money or ticket sales — it’s about principle,” he wrote. “I believe Africa must be respected.”

The event was organised by Iconic Presents and The Neto Future Group. While specific details of the dispute were not disclosed, Davido expressed disappointment at the organisers’ failure to align with the standards he expects for his performances. The singer’s team had reportedly attempted to resolve the concerns behind the scenes but ultimately decided to withdraw.

Davido assured fans that this cancellation would not affect his ongoing tour. He confirmed that his other upcoming shows in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the United States will continue as planned. “To my fans, I’m sorry, but I’ll be back soon,” he wrote, adding that he remains committed to delivering quality performances under the right conditions.

The organisers have not yet issued a formal response to Davido’s statement. Meanwhile, fans have reacted with a mix of support and disappointment, praising the artist for standing firm on his values while hoping for a future performance in London under better terms.
