Dangote Cement has officially commenced operations in Attingué, a suburb of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, marking a significant milestone in its West African expansion strategy. The launch event, held on October 12, 2025, was attended by top government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from the Dangote Group.
The new facility is expected to boost local cement production capacity, reduce reliance on imports, and support infrastructure development across Côte d’Ivoire. With a production capacity of over 3 million metric tonnes annually, the plant is poised to meet growing demand in the region while creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to industrializing Africa and fostering economic integration through strategic investments. He noted that the Attingué plant aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) goals by enhancing regional trade and reducing logistics costs.
The launch reinforces Dangote Cement’s position as the continent’s largest cement producer, with operations in over 10 African countries. It also signals a deepening of economic ties between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire, as both nations seek to strengthen bilateral trade and industrial cooperation.
