In a shocking incident that has left the community in disbelief, the Imo State Police Command has arrested a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Joseph Enyinaya, for allegedly shooting dead a young boy at St. Columbus Catholic Church in Amaimo Ikeduru Local Government Area. The tragic event occurred on December 31, when the priest reportedly brought out his revolver and shot the boy, who had thrown a banger inside the church.
The Imo police spokesman, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, stating, “The priest has been arrested, and the body of the boy has been recovered and deposited at Atta Ikeduru Mortuary.” He added that a detailed investigation has been initiated to ascertain the remote facts surrounding the incident. “The police investigation is expected to shed more light on the events leading up to the incident,” Okoye said.
