Three staff members attached to Abia State Governor Alex Otti were this morning attacked by unidentified gunmen near the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants opened fire on the convoy, leaving the victims injured before fleeing the scene.
Security operatives have since cordoned off the area as investigations continue into the motive behind the attack. The incident has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in the South-East, with calls for stronger measures to protect government officials and citizens alike.
