Boko Haram Abducts Nigerian Army University Professor, Others in Borno.

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted a professor from the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) alongside several others in Borno State. The attack occurred along the Damaturu-Biu road near Kamuya village, a known hotspot for insurgent activities. Among those kidnapped was Professor Abubakar Eljuma, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at NAUB, who was reportedly a contender for the university’s Vice-Chancellor position.

Eyewitness reports suggest that the attackers ambushed vehicles traveling along the road, forcibly taking passengers into the nearby forest. The identities of other abducted individuals remain unclear, but sources indicate that multiple people were taken. Boko Haram and its affiliates have frequently targeted highways in Borno and Yobe states, using kidnappings to demand ransoms or bolster their ranks through forced recruitment.

The Nigerian Army and security forces have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. However, residents and travelers have expressed frustration over the continued insecurity on major roads despite military presence in the region. Many argue that the government’s counterinsurgency efforts have not done enough to prevent these recurring attacks, leaving civilians vulnerable.

The families of the abducted individuals are now anxiously awaiting news, hoping for swift intervention by security forces. With no immediate claim of responsibility from any terrorist faction, concerns are growing over the fate of the victims. This latest attack underscores the persistent security challenges in northeastern Nigeria, where Boko Haram and ISWAP continue to operate despite ongoing military offensives.
